On “The Pelican Curse,” electronic music composer Ross Fish has conjured a series of microscopic worlds out of the aether through the medium of modular synthesis. Recorded directly to reel-to-reel in a live setting, each piece exercises repetition and variation in subtle forms, enveloping the listener in a stasis tank floating through the fabric of the material world in which we reside.

"A faint fog washes in, bringing with it the salty air from the east. The lighthouse makes its rounds as the shore sleeps soundly to the echoes of gulls screaming in the darkness. Memories begin to crash into my body wave after wave, so strong that my feet can barely hold their ground in this silky Earth. I count the passings of Orion: seven nights and still no sign. As dawn takes its first waking breath, I longingly watch the ships disappear on the horizon. Where hath my love flown to?"
